Volunteers are needed to to help bring Busselton Jetty Swim to life.

Volunteer Coordinators Sue Barrett and Brigitte Borelli – who both participate in the event – said volunteers played an integral role in the success of Jetty Swim.

“Busselton Jetty swim is organised by a volunteer committee, and we rely on hundreds of volunteers over event weekend to help with things like swimmer check-ins and the distribution of towels and refreshments to finishers,” said Sue.

“Our 2026 theme, Your Swim, Your Story, shines a spotlight on swimmers and their journeys, but none of these stories would be possible without our volunteers, and many – like us – have their own Jetty Swim story,” Brigitte added.

French-born Brigitte swims the One Mile Swim to Shore each year, while Sue will be lining up for her 22nd 3.6km solo swim.  Both became involved as volunteers after being impressed by how well the event is organised.

“There are many swimmers who volunteer but we often see people start out wanting to give back to the community, get inspired by swimmers of all ages and abilities, and then decide to take the plunge themselves,” she said. “It’s really special.”

Volunteer roles are available across both days of the event, with training provided before each shift. Volunteers receive a free event T-shirt, refreshments, and the chance to win great prizes donated by event sponsors.
