A record-breaking 6,236 ballot entries were received for our 2026 event, confirming once again the growing popularity of the Busselton Jetty Swim.

The ballot, which was open for eight days earlier this month, manages entries for our 3.6km Solo Swim and One Mile Swim to Shore events. Introduced in 2022 after huge demand crashed our registration site, it gives everyone -regardless of age, ability, or postcode – an equal chance to experience the buzz of completing the Busselton Jetty Swim.

President of our volunteer organising committee, Kat Rafferty, said the team was humbled by the continued enthusiasm for the event but acknowledged the disappointment of those who missed out.

“This is the biggest number of applications we’ve ever received,” Ms Rafferty said.

“We were oversubscribed by around 36%, which means, unfortunately, not everyone got an entry. While our ballot process is designed to be fair, we understand how disappointing it is to miss out – especially for those who are passionate about the Jetty Swim.”

Those who missed out on an entry in the initial ballot have been placed on a waitlist and may secure a spot if a swimmer withdraws. Alternatively, they can remove themselves from the waitlist, round up some friends, and join one of our team swims — entries are open now
