Race Information for the SunSmart Busselton Jetty Swim 2018.    The information below is to provide you with a general idea of how the event proceeds.  Please check back again before the event.

Sunday 11 February 2018 at the Busselton Jetty.      


Six waves of up to 400 solo swimmers per wave commence at 08:00 and continue at 90 second intervals
2 person relay teams start at 08:10 and 4 person relay teams start at 08:12.  The Kids swim starts at 11:30 with waves of 8 swimmers, at 30 second intervals.


Official race finish time is 11:00 for the main swim and 12:00 for the Kids Swim.

Pre-Race Check-in:

Saturday 10 February 2018 14:30 - 18:30 (preferred option) check-in times will be staggered to minimise waiting times and will be allocated with your e-ticket  OR Sunday 11 February 2018 06:00 – 07:00 

At check-in swimmers: show their e-ticket, hand in a signed copy of the swimmer declaration (waiver), receive their swim cap, timing band, start wave and race number tattoo.  Note: ID may be requested.

Authorized support craft 07:00 Conducted by Surf Life Saving, location TBA.

Kid's Swim 11:15 at the Kid's Swim start, east of the swimming jetty.

Assemble on the beach at 10:45. Waves of 8 start at 11:00 at 30 second intervals.



12:45 (approx) at the main stage. Swimmer category winners are to proceed to the stage area at 12:25, prior to awards.

Entries Close:  23:59 Western Standard Time, Wednesday 31 January 2018, unless sold out earlier.
Late entries will not be accepted for teams or individuals. 

A waitlist will be available.  All participant details and full payment are required to go on the waitlist.  Waitlisted swimmers who are not successful in obtaining an entry will receive a full refund.  See Waitlists & Transfers page to register for the waitlist.

Entry Transfers will be available.  Conditions Apply.  See Waitlists & Transfers page to initiate an entry transfer.

You can update your personal entry data by using the login information in your confirmation email.  

Entries will be capped at: 120 x 2 person relay teams, 60 x 4 person relay teams, 1820 solo swimmers. TOTAL = 2300 swimmers. Plus a maximum of 200 swimmers for the Kids Swim.

Race organizers reserve the right to vary the capped entries, restrict entries and/or refuse entry to any swimmer.

Confirmed entrants will be emailed an eTicket containing: entry details, check-in time, race number and a copy of the waiver in the week prior to the swim.  Please bring the eTicket and your pre-signed waiver to pre-race check-in.

Junior Swimmers:

Junior swimmers must be at least 8 years old on race day.  Swimmers aged 12 years and under must provide proof of passing stage 8 (as per Royal Life Saving) or equivalent to be eligible to swim in the event. Parents or guardians are required to email proof to rego@busseltonjettyswim.org.au  once they have completed an official online entry. 

Support Paddlers:

Support paddlers are not be permitted to accompany swimmers, however if you feel you have a special need requiring your own support or provisions this must be indicated as part of your online entry. An exclusion zone will be in effect under control of the Department of Transport. Paddlers breaching the exclusion zone may be subject to cautions or fines.


Refunds are available if applied for in writing or by email prior to the entry closing date of Wednesday 31 January 2018.  A $10 administration fee per swimmer will be retained. A $5 administration fee per swimmer in the Kid's Swim will be retained.

Optional Event Registration (Refund) Insurance is also available and can be selected, as an option, during online entry.  The cost of the optional Event Registration (Refund) Insurance is 10% of the entry fee. Restrictions apply.
